You have installed several security cameras in and around your home. However, it annoys you that motion detection always starts a little late. With our tip, you solve the problem.
You have installed several security cameras in and around your home – for example from the Arlo series from Netgear. However, it annoys you that the motion detection always starts a little too late: An animal or a person walking past the camera and thus triggering a video recording is either no longer at all on the pictures or can only be seen at the very edge of the picture.
You can solve this problem by positioning several cameras one after the other and then connecting them in series to combine their actions: As soon as the camera detects movement in the garage, for example, the camera a few meters away should start video recording at the front door. This way, the person walking from the garage to the front door should be fully captured by the front door camera.
You can do this in the Arlo app or in the browser at arlo.netgear.com Before: Go to “Mode” on the start screen and select the camera that should recognize the movement – in our example the camera at the garage. Choose Add Mode and enter a name for the new mode. Confirm with “Next”. Then select the device that should trigger the new mode – with us the garage camera. After clicking on “Next”, you determine that this camera should be activated when it detects motion. After “Next”, you can change the sensitivity of the camera to the movements. In the next step, you set that the second camera – with us at the front door – should record the video. Confirm that a video should be recorded when the garage camera detects motion.
Finally, you can set whether and how you want to be informed about the video recording – via push message or email. Click on “Next” and “Save” to finish creating the new model. It can now be activated in the “Mode” menu for the selected device. If you want to change the mode, select the pencil symbol on the right.
The mode can also be deleted in this way, but only if it is not currently marked as active.
This was the whole process of connecting IP cameras together, but in case, you are still not able to connect the cameras, then you need to figure out the problem(s) behind it. You can take the help of the Arlo support facility to make it happen. For more information go to Arlo Setup.
